What is Lioresal (Baclofen) used for? Lioresal (Baclofen) is an an antispastic agent and belongs to a group of medicines called muscle relaxants. Lioresal (Baclofen) is used to reduce excess tension in your muscles which causes spasms. These spasms happen in various illnesses such as multiple sclerosis and diseases or injuries of the spinal cord. How should I use Lioresal (Baclofen)? Lioresal (Baclofen) is usually started at a low dosage and may be increased gradually until the correct dosage is reached. Your physician can help you find your correct dosage. Baclofen is usually taken in diveded doses throughout the day. Lioresal may be started at a dose of 15mg a day, then increased slowly to anywhere from 30 to 75mg a day. For children (under 16) or elderly (over 65), physician may start you on a lower dose and increase it more gradually to prevent unwanted side effects. What are the side effects of Lioresal (Baclofen)?
Please Note Before taking Lioresal, tell you physician if you are pregnancy or breastfeeding, or you have mental illness, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, heart , kidney or liver disease, stroke or other brain blood vessel disease, lung problems, stomach or duodenal ulcers, diabetes, alcoholism, high blood pressure, etc. Let your physician know of any other medicines you are taking, especially anything causing sedation, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, insulin and/or diabetes medicines, hypertension medicines, levodopa and carbidopa.
