Isotrex Gel (Isotretinoin) Tweet
How does it work: Isotrex Gel is vitamin-A derived retinoid, prescribed to treat mild to moderate acne. It comes in the form of a gel which is applied topically to the affected areas of skin. In addition to acne, it also is effective in improving the appearance of wrinkles, and is used as an aftercare medication for patients who have undergone laser skin treatment. Isotrex works by opening the skins pores, and encouraging oil production, which helps to prevent new spots and blackheads forming. It also encourages blood flow to the skin which quickens your bodies replacement of new skin cells, resulting in fresher, younger looking skin. Dosage & Administration: Please note that Isotrex must be used consistently for a period of at least 6 weeks in order to begin to notice the effects of medication. Always follow the instructions of your physician. The steps below are meant as a guide only.
Side Effects: Isotrex Gel is usually very well tolerated and any side effects should only be mild and temporary. The most commonly reported side effects are listed below.
Precautions: Isotrex Gel is for external use only. Avoid applying close to the eyes, mouth or nose. Do not use on any broken, cut, burnt or cancerous skin, or if you have eczema. Isotrex Gel often causes the skin treated to become increasingly vulnerable to UV rays. Avoid direct exposure to the sun, and cover up as much as possible if it is unavoidable. Inform your physician before using if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have any allergies, have any other medical conditions or illnesses, or if you are taking any other medication (including non-prescription meds, supplements, and vitamins). Keep Isotrex Gel in a cool and dry place, out of reach of children and pets.
