What is Benoquin Cream (Monobenzone) used for and how does it work?

Benoquin Cream (Monobenzone) is a topical depigmenting medication, used primarily in the treatment of Vitiligo which is characterized by white patches on the skin due to loss of melanocytes.

It works by decreasing the amount of melanin and bring about uniform colouring of the patient's skin. This cream is not effective in treating hyper-pigmentation resulting from other pigments.

How should I use Benoquin Cream (Monobenzone)?

Vitiligo patients should apply and rub only a thin layer of this cream on the affected areas, between 2 and 3 times a day, or as otherwise directed by their physician.

Significant results are usually seen after 1 to 4 months of usage. In the event that no results are observed after 4 months of use, your physician may instruct you to discontinue use of the cream.
