How does Elidel Cream (Pimecrolimus) work:

Elidel Cream (Pimecrolimus) is a steroid-free prescription medication for many people-including children as young as 2 - who have mild or moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema). Elidel Cream (Pimecrolimus) relieves the uncomfortable symptoms of eczema, and soothes the irritations.

Dosage & Administration:

Follow the directions for using Elidel Cream (Pimecrolimus) provided by your physician. Apply a small amount of medicine to the affected area. Gently rub the Elidel Cream in until it is evenly distributed. Wash your hands after applying this medicine, unless your hands are part of treated area. Do not bandage or wrap the affected area unless directed otherwise by your physician. Do not apply this medicine to open wounds or infected areas.

Store at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep Elidel Cream out of the reach of children and pets. Do not freeze. Make sure the cap on the tube is tightly closed.

Precautions:

Before using Elidel Cream, tell your physician about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have high blood pressure if you have cold sores or shingles, Netherton's syndrome, receiving any form of light therapy (phototherapy, UVA, or UVB) to your skin, skin infection. Avoid sunlight, sun lamps, tanning beds and treatment with UVA or UVB light while using this medicine. If you need to be outdoors after applying Elidel Cream, wear loose fitting clothing that protects the treated area from the sun. Do not cover the skin being treated with bandages, dressings, or wraps.
