What is Malaseb Medicated Shampoo (Miconazole Nitrate/Chlorhexidine Gluconate) used for?

Malaseb Shampoo is given to cats and dogs to treat dermatitis, ringworm and yeast or fungal based infections. Malaseb contains no artificial colouring, therefore will not cause damage or irritation to the skin.

How should I use Malaseb Medicated Shampoo (Miconazole Nitrate/Chlorhexidine Gluconate)?

You may repeat the following steps once or twice per week until the condition subsides. If in doubt always follow the instructions of your vet.

• Apply Malaseb Shampoo directly onto wet fur, making sure you cover areas such as the lips, underneath the tail, in between the toes and other hidden areas which commonly hide germs.
• Massage into the coat to create as much lather as possible.
• Wait for 10 minutes before rinsing off with fresh running water.

Monitor your pet closely to ensure it does not lick, eat, or swallow the shampoo, as doing so can cause many possible side effects as listed in the side effects section. If you have one, it is a good idea to use a cone collar for the 10 minutes the shampoo is left on before being washed off.

What are the side effects of Malaseb Medicated Shampoo (Miconazole Nitrate/Chlorhexidine Gluconate)?

Common side effects (which are a consequence of either ingesting the shampoo or getting it in the animal's eye) include:

• ingestion
• gastrointestinal
• respiratory tract
• eye irritation

In rare cases, symptoms may include:

• vomiting
• trouble breathing
• swelling
• pain or signs of infection

Immediately call your vet if your pet is suffering from any adverse effects.

Check the shampoo is safe to use if your pet is taking any other medication. Always discuss whether the shampoo is safe if your pet is pregnant, or nursing pups.

This medication is only suitable for adult dogs and cats.
