Frontier (Fipronil) Tweet
What is Frontier (Fipronil) used for? Frontier (Fipronil) is an effective treatment for ticks and fleas on your dog. It is used on dogs, or puppies that are 8 weeks or older, and contains an insecticide that effectively kills a broad range of pests. Frontier (Fipronil) works by disrupting the central nervous system of the insect enabling chloride ions travelling through the insect's system to kill it. How should I use Frontier (Fipronil)? Use Frontier (Fipronil) once a month to keep your dog or puppy protected from ticks and fleas. Always use latex protective gloves when applying Frontier (Fipronil). Snap open one of the Frontier (Fipronil) packs, part the dog's hair between the dog's shoulder blades where your dog cannot reach it to lick, and apply the solution. Ensure it gets down to the skin. Wash your hands thoroughly when finished. Do not shower your dog within 24 hours of applying to allow Frontier to be absorbed. Avoid letting your dog out in the rain for the same period of time. What are the side effects of Frontier (Fipronil)? Your dog may experience mild irritation and redness at the application site. This is only temporary, however if you are worried or the irritation persists, consult your vet. Please Note If your dog is on other medications, check with your vet to make sure it is safe to use Frontier (Fipronil) in conjunction with them. Do not apply Frontier (Fipronil) where you dog can lick it or get it into its eyes as this can poison your dog. Never use Frontier (Fipronil) on puppies under 8 weeks old. The application site may look oily for up to 24 hours after applying Frontier (Fipronil). This is normal, and your dog's coat will look normal again in a few days.
