How does Rcifax (Rifaximin) work: Rcifax (Rifaximin) is an antibiotic prescribed for traveler's diarrhea caused by certain bacteria and hepatic encephalopathy. It prevents the growth of bacteria inside the intestine. It is also indicated for reducing the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of the antibacterial medicines. Dosage & Administration: Take Rcifax as directed by your physician. Follow the dosage that prescribed by your physician. For traveler's diarrhea, the dosage is 600mg taken 3 times a day for 3 days. For hepatic encephalopathy, it is administered as 1100mg per day in 2 divided doses. It is recommended to take Rcifax orally before or after a meal. Swallow the tablet whole without chew, crush, or dissolve in water. If you miss a dose, then take the missed dose immediately. If it is almost the time to take the next dose, skip the missed dose.
