How does Milixim (Cefixime) work: Milixim (Cefixime) is an oral cephalosporin antibiotic. Milixim is used to treat tonsilitis, pharyngitis, and a sexually-transmitted disease known as gonorrhoea. It is also used to treat certain bacterial infections of the ear, throat, chest, skin or bladder. Milixim works by inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell wall, thus inhibiting biosynthesis and arresting cell wall assembly resulting in bacterial cell death. Dosage & Administration: The usual dose is 400mg twice a day for up to 5-7 days. Susceptible infections: Adult - A single dose of 200-400mg per day or in 2 divided doses. Uncomplicated gonorrhoea: Adult - 400mg as a single dose. Side Effects:
Precautions: Tell your physician if you have a history of allergy to Cefixime or penicillins, renal failure, GI disease, or are pregnancy or lactation.
