What is Malirid (Primaquine) used for? Malirid (Primaquine) is used to fight malaria after a patient has been treated with chloroquine It is used to treat liver infections caused by the ovale and vivax types of malaria. Malirid is not used to prevent malaria. Malirid is an anti-malarial medication which interferes with the parasites that cause malaria. How should I use Malirid (Primaquine)? Malirid (Primaquine) should be taken at the same times every day and you should try to upkeep a constant supply in your body. Take Malirid strictly as directed by your physician, with or without food. Do not change or end your prescription without your physician’s advice to do so as this could lead to side effects. Do NOT double-up a dose of Malirid to compensate for the one you missed. What are the side effects of Malirid (Primaquine)?
