How does Zovirax Cold Sore Cream (Aciclovir) work: Zovirax Cold Sore Cream contains the active ingredient aciclovir, which is an antiviral medicine used to treat infections with the herpes virus. Zovirax is used to treat cold sores, which are caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus. Aciclovir works by stopping the herpes simplex virus from reproducing and infecting more cells. Dosage & Administration: Zovirax Cold Sore Cream should be applied 5 times a day at approx. 4 hourly intervals omitting the night time application. Treatment should be continued for 5 days. If healing has not occurred, treatment may be continued for up to an additional 5 days. If lesions are still present after 10 days, users should be advised to consult a physician. Users should wash their hands before and after applying the cream, and avoid rubbing of the lesions or touching them with a towel, to avoid aggravating or transferring the infection. Side Effects:
