Zitromax (Azitromicina) Tweet
How does Zitromax (Azitromicina) work: Zitromax (Azitromicina) contains the active ingredient Azithromycin, which is a type of medicine called a macrolide antibiotic that is active against a wide variety of bacteria that cause a wide variety of infections. Zitromax is used to treat infections of the upper or lower airways, skin or ears. It is also used to treat the sexually-transmitted infection chlamydia. Azitromicina works by preventing bacteria from producing proteins that are essential to them. Without these proteins the bacteria cannot grow, replicate and increase in numbers. Azithromycin therefore stops the spread of infection and remaining bacteria are killed by the body`s immune system or eventually die. Dosage & Administration: Always take Zitromax as instructed by your physician carefully. Your physician or pharmist may prescribe a suitable dosage for your condition. The usual starting dose is one 500mg tablet on the first day, and followed by 250mg daily. For some conditions like genital ulcer disease, non-gonoccocal urethritis and cervicitis, a single dose may be incresed to 1g. Zitromax can be taken with or without food. If you have any questions on using Zitromax, ask your physician or pharmist for assistance. Side Effects:
Precaution: Because Azithromycin is principally eliminated via the liver, caution should be exercised when Azithromycin is administered to patients with impaired hepatic function. Patients should also be cautioned not to take aluminum- and magnesium-containing antacids and Azithromycin simultaneously. Stop taking Zitromax immediately and contact a physician if any signs of an allergic reaction occur. Patient should tell physician or pharmist if they are pregnant or breastfeeding. "
