Zemetril 500 (Cefprozil) Tweet
What is Zemetril (Cefprozil) used for? Zemetril (Cefprozil) is a cephalosporin antibiotic prescribed to treat a range of bacterial infections, including bronchitis, throat infections, sinus infections, ear infections, and skin infections. Please note that this medication is only effective for bacterial infections and will not treat viral infections. How should I use Zemetril (Cefprozil)? Zemetril (Cefprozil) should be used only as prescribed by your physician. Do not self-medicate or adjust your dosage yourself. Patients are commonly instructed to dose either 1 or 2 times per day, for a period of approximately 10 days. Children are prescribed a dose based on their weight. For best results dosing should be evenly spaced apart, each 24 hours when dosing once per day, and each 12 hours when dosing twice per day. Swallow tablets whole without splitting, crushing, chewing, or dissolving in liquid. Wash down with a full glass of water. If you experience an upset stomach after dosing, try dosing alongside a meal or snack. Never stop taking this medication before the end of your course of medication. As with all antibiotics it is very important to finish the course you have been prescribed, even if the infection appears to have been successfully treated. Infections can relapse far stronger and more medicine-resistant than before. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the previous missed dose and continue as normal with you scheduled doses remaining. Never double-up or increase your dosage to compensate for a missed dose. What are the side effects of Zemetril (Cefprozil)? Report all side effects to your physician.
