What is Forcan (Fluconazole) used for?

Forcan (Fluconazole) is used to treat pneumonia, meningitis, and fungal infections of the mouth, throat, liver, kidneys, heart, urinary tract, and abdomen. Forcan also has been used to treat vaginal infections and oral thrush in certain patients.

How should I use Forcan (Fluconazole)?

Forcan (Fluconazole) comes in a capsule or tablet form. It is usually taken once a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your physician or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Forcan exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your physician. Continue to take Forcan even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Forcan without talking to your physician.

What are the side effects of Forcan (Fluconazole)?

Tell your physician if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

• upset stomach
• loss of appetite
• altered taste
• diarrhea or loose stools
• headache
• dizziness
• fatigue

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your physician immediately:

• rash
• itching
• vomiting
• yellowing of the skin or eyes
• dark urine
• pale stools

Before taking Forcan, tell your physician and pharmacist if you are allergic to fluconazole or any other drugs. Tell your physician if you have had kidney or liver disease or a history of alcohol abuse, or if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Forcan, call your physician immediately.
