Sandrena Gel (Estradiol/ Estradiol hemihydrates) is used as a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to relieve distressful symptoms of the menopause. Sandrena Gel is available in 28 Sachets each 1mg.

Dosage & Administration Information:

Sandrena gel, to be used on the skin, can be used periodically or permanently. The common dose is 1.0mg estradiol (1.0g gel) daily. Whereas the initial dosage is changeable. The acuteness of the patient's symptoms are essential here. Depending on the doctor’s prescription, the dosage can be replaced after 2-3 cycles from 0.5g to 1.5g per day. Sandrena gel is best applied on the skin of the thighs. The gel evaporates in this way and the oestradiol is quickly absorbed through the skin into the blood circulation. The size of the treated part should be 1-2 time the size of a hand. Do not use Sandrena on the breasts, on the face or irritated skin. After usage the gel is supposed to dry for a couple of minutes. Do not wash the medicated part within 1 hour. Further, any contact of the gel with the eyes must be avoided. Wash hands after each application.

How does Sandrena Gel works:

Sandrena is used to replace the body's natural sex hormone oestrogen which is reduced after the menopause. Sandrena gel contains the active ingredient estradiol hemihydrates, which is a naturally occurring form of the main female sex hormone. Declining levels of oestrogen can cause symptoms like irregular periods, mood swings, night sweats, hot flushes, vaginal dryness and/ or itching.

Estradiol hemihydrates is generally used to avoid the falling levels of oestrogen in the body and help reduce stressfull symptoms of the menopause. This method is usually found under the name Hormone replacement therapy (HRT). HRT is commonly used for short-term relief from menopausal symptoms. Any longer-term treatments usually have to be discussed with your doctor.
