The dose is depending on your kidney function, your general medical condition and your response to the therapy. Tenvir-EM can be taken with other medicines to treat HIV. In case one is taking didanosine enteric-coated tablets simultaneously it is recommended to take in both products either on an empty stomach or with a light table. If you are taking the didanosine buffered tablets, one is well adviced to use the products on an empty stomach.

Always pursue taking this specific and the other anti-HIV drugs exactly as enacted by a physician or pharmacist. Tenvir-EM works best when taken at evenly spaced intervals. Consequently take the medication each time at equal intervals. It is suggested to use the tablet everyday at the same time. To omit or to change a dose without discussion with a pharmacist or the approval of a physician may increase the amount of viruses or it may make the infection more difficult to treat. Sometimes it can even worsen adverse reactions.

  • Lactic acidosis and severe hepatomegaly with steatosis, including fatal cases, have been reported with the use of nucleoside analogs including tenofovir in combination with other antiretrovirals
  • Severe acute exacerbations of hepatitis have been reported in HBV-infected patients who have discontinued anti-hepatitis b therapy including tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. Hepatic function should be monitored closely with both clinical and laboratory follow-up for at least several months in patients who discontinue anti-hepatitis b therapy, including tenofovir. If appropriate, resumption of anti-hepatitis b therapy may be warranted (see warnings and precautions).

Further Information:

Because of the potential postnatal transmission of HIV and the potential for serious adverse reactions in the nursing suckling, it is requested that HIV- infected woman do not breastfeed their infants in order to prevent the eventual mentioned risks. Tests on rats have shown that Tenvir is secreted in the milk of the mother. Until now it is not known whether tenofovir is excreted in human milk. Also it is not well known whether emtricitabine are excreted in human milk. Therefore to go without nursing is life saving for the infant.
