Finast ® (Finasteride) is a combination of cyproterone acetate (CPA) plus ethinylesteradiol (EE2) used in the treatment of hirsutism. Of forty hirsute women in the trial, twenty-nine had polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and 11 had hirsutism. Patients were randomly treated with finasteride or CPA plus EE2 for nine months. The investigators concluded that finasteride and CPA plus EE2 are equally effective in decreasing hirsutism, despite significantly different effects on hormone levels.
