The active ingredient Albendazole is an anthelmintic and works by killing sensitive parasites. It is designed to successfully clear threadworms, pinworms, roundworms, whipworms, tapeworms and hookworms from the gut and other tissues. Zentel is thought to kill these worms by causing them to starve. The eggs, larvae and adult worms are affected. Dosage & Administration Information:
For your individual dosage discuss yourself with your doctor. He can advise you on how many tablets you should take each day and for how long it is suitable to take Zentel. The common dosage for adults and children older than 2 years, are two tablets (single dose). How to apply Zentel:
Take your dosage with food or on an empty stomach. It is important to take the tablets on an empty stomach. Although in some conditions and as particularly advised by your doctor the tablets may need to be taken after food. How does Zentel works: The main generic of Zentel, Albendazole, works to injure the worms and fight the infection. Albendazole causes degenerative alterations in the tegument and intestinal cells of the worm by binding to the colchicine-sensitive site of tubulin, thus inhibiting its polymerization or assembly into microtubules. The loss of the cytoplasmic microtubules leads to impaired uptake of glucose by the larval and adult stages of the susceptible parasites, and depletes their glycogen stores. The parasite is immobilized and eventuelly dies.
