What is Foseal (Sevelamer HCL) used for?

Foseal (Sevelamer HCL) is given to patients who are on dialysis to help treat and prevent high levels of phosphorus in their blood. Even though dialysis removes phosphorus from the blood, it does not remove enough to keep the levels of phosphorus balanced. This drug works by binding phosphorus from food and prevents the blood stream from absorbing it. The reduction of phoshporus levels may help the patient's bones remain strong, and may also reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks.

How should I use Foseal (Sevelamer HCL)?

Foseal (Sevelamer HCL) tablets should be taken orally, usually three times per day with meals. You should follow the instructions of your physician when taking this medication, and continue to take it unless your physician tells you otherwise.
