Muse (Aprostadil) commonly is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Moreover it is used as an aid for tests, to clarify whether a patient has an erectile dysfunction.
Dosage & Administration Information:
The recommended starting dose for the treatment of an erectile dysfunction is 250 μg.
Under medical supervision this dose may be increased by stages from 500 μg.
to 1000 μg.
Note: Within 24 hours only 2 applications are advised and within seven days only maximum seven apps shall be considered.
If Muse is used as an aid for tests, to clarify whether a patient has an erectile dysfunction, it only will be a one- shot dosage of 500 μg.
Important tips for the application:
- Urination directly before usage of Muse ( a moist urethra make the application easier)
- Removal of the protective cover from Muse applicator
- Stretching of the penis upward to its full length
- Insertion of the applicator stick into the urethra
- Press the applicator button to unblock the medication from the applicator
- Removal of the applicator from the urethra
- Rolling of the penis in the hands for around 10 seconds. This will make sure that the Muse is adequately distributed along the wall of the urethra.
- In case the men experience a burning sensation roll the penis for another 30 to 60 seconds until the burning subsides.
- Stand, walk, sit and talk for circa 10 minutes after usage of Muse
- The Development of the erection will occur within 5-10 minutes after administration
- Approximately it will last 30-60 minutes.
How does Muse work:
Muse main active agent, Aprostadil, belongs to a family of natural hormones in the body called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins have many effects including powerful actions on blood vessels. Alprostadil belongs to the E-series of prostaglandins, which administers the blood vessels of your penis to expand.
Side Effects:
When using drugs the chances of hypersensitivities are always given. In case of hypersensitivity through Muse the immediate discontinuation is highly suggested. In addition note, if allergies against the active agent aprostadil are known, it is not allowed to be used. However, as specified below there may specific adverse reactions during the application of Muse. Do not use Muse when:
- Sickel cell disease
- Tumors (from the bone marrow)
- Blood cancer
- Deformity of the penis
- Penis prosthesis
- Men, which due to certain physical reasons are not allowed to have sexual intercourse
- Woman and Children
Precautions:
Because an incorrect application of Muse can cause certain reactions, one should read the instruction very carefully. Wrong administration may create:
- Urethral abrasion
- Minor urethral bleeding.
Users shall be careful with activities such as driving or dangerous tasks, where injury could result. Consumers who witnessed hypotension or black outs, normally observed its occurrences during titration within one hour of drug administration.

Condoms:
It is important to know, that Muse cannot protect against sexually transmitted diseases, therefore and in case your partner is pregnant do not have intercourse with her without using a condom. The use of Muse will not affect the intactness of condoms.
Further Information:
It is recommended to consult a doctor or pharmacist before the application of Muse, since it is important to diagnose the cause of the erectile disorder (f.e. Diabetes).
When using Muse it is advised to sample every three month, whether the penis shows any changes.
If one experiences erections which continue longer than 4 hours, a doctor has to be visit.
