What is Caverject Impulse (Alprostadil) used for?

Caverject Impulse (Alprostadil) is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) and helps diagnose certain causes of this disorder. Caverject is only designed for male adults with erectile disorders due to vasculogenic, neurogenic, psychogenic or mixed aetiology.

Caverject Impulse is responsible for the relaxation of blood vessels. It promotes blood-flow into your penis, after a caverject-injection along the penile shaft and thus causes an erection.

How should I use Caverject Impulse (Alprostadil)?

A Caverject dose must be individualized for each patient by careful titration under medical supervision. Note that if the duration of erection is longer than one hour, the dose should be reduced. Most of the patients reported a satisfactory result with a dosage around 10 to 20 micrograms. In case the patient is on self-injection, it is recommended that he consults his physician approximately every three month. If you like to involve your partner in giving or preparing your injection, you should talk to your physician about training him/her. Never forget to wash your hands and dry them on a clean towel. If your partner helps they should also wash their hands when finished.

What are the side effects of Caverject Impulse (Alprostadil)?

As it occurs with any other medication, there exist a few side effects, which might appear during the application with caverject. You might not experience any adverse reactions. • One should not use caverject Impulse if one is predisposed to priapism
• Do not use this drug if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

Further Information

Note, that caverject offers no protection against sexually transmitted diseases, such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and others. Therefore it is important that the patient arranges protection and uses condoms while having sexual intercourse.
