Antiflu (Oseltamivir) Tweet
How does Antiflu (Oseltamivir) work: Antiflu (Oseltamivir) is an antiviral medication that can be used to treat influenza infections (flu) in children and adults, if the symptoms have started within 1 -2 days before applying the product. Further it is prescribed for the prevention of flu in children, teens and adults who are likely to get the influenza virus. Note, it is not designed to treat a common cold. Antiflu, manufactured by Cipla, is the only generic of Tamiflu currently available. It has recently been approved by the World Health Organization and accepted into the list of prequalified products. It is an antiviral drug, most often used to treat types A and B influenza, and can be taken by children (over one year old) and adults. It must be taken within the first two days that symptoms occur. Antiflu is a neuraminidase inhibitor which prevents or inhibits the virus from multiplying throughout cells. Although it prevents the virus from spreading throughout the body, it is not a vaccine and cannot replace flu vaccinations. However, Antiflu helps to lessen the severity of symptoms like coughing, congestion, muscle aches, sore throat, etc. and shortens the recovery time by approximately two days. Dosage & Administration: In order to work properly, Antiflu must be started within two days of the onset of symptoms or exposure to the flu. If you have a flu, continue taking it twice a day for five days. Do so even if your symptoms improve. The medication will be most effective if you take each dosage at the same time. To prevent influenza, take Antiflu once a day for at least ten days (or as directed by your physician). The protection lasts as long as you take the drug. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. Store Antiflu at room temperature and keep the package dry. Try to take the product with food in order to prevent an upset stomach. Side Effects: As it is with any other medications, Antiflu may cause certain side effects. In case you should experience the following adverse reaction, please contact your physician for medical assistance:
Precautions: Do not use the drug when you are pregnant or nursing unless you have discussed this with your physician. If you are suffering from any of the following disorders, inform your physician before starting a treatment with Antiflu:
