How does Virovir (Famciclovir) work: Virovir (Famciclovir) treats the virus that causes shingles and genital herpes. It does not cure either condition but treats the symptoms by reducing the itchiness and also helps to heal any sores or blisters in the infected area. Virovir works by inhibiting the ability of the virus to reproduce, reducing the spread of infection. Dosage & Administration: The dosage is usually between 125mg and 500mg up to 3 times daily for up to 7 days depending on your condition. You should only use Virovir as directed by your physician. Virovir is best taken as soon as you notice symptoms appearing. It is better to take Virovir with food or milk as it may cause stomach upsets if taken on its own.
Side Effects:
Precautions: It is unknown the effects Virovir has on a fetus, therefore pregnant women should talk to their physicians about whether Virovir is a suitable treatment for your condition.
