How does Azilect (Rasagiline Mesylate) work: Azilect (Rasagiline Mesylate) is commonly used to treat Parkinson diseases. The active agent Rasagiline Mesylate cannot heal the Parkinson's disease entirely, but certainly it is able to lower the typical symptoms such as shakiness, stiffness and muscle stiffness. Also, it is suppose to improve the ability to walk, to move and to exercise. When treating Parkinson disease the main attention is focused on the replacement of the dopamine in the patient's brain, for it is proofed that the neurotransmitter dopamine is either reduced or completely absent in the brains of Parkinson disease patients. By implication this is the cause of the symptoms of the Parkinson disease. Azilect's main ingredient is called Rasagiline, which increases the dopamine level in the brain cells. Dosage & Administration: Azilect is to be taken orally once daily with or without food and after consultation and discussion with your physician or pharmacist. Do never increase your dose on your own or take the medication other than directed by your physician/ pharmacist. If you miss a dose do not double it, just take the next dose according to the schedule. Highly likely it will take a couple of weeks before the best results of the medicament arise. Therefore and/ or if you feel your state is aggravating, don't break up taking Azilect. Immediately consult your physician instead. Further Advice: Food: To avoid a rise in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis), during the application of Azilect it is recommended to avoid foods and drinks high in tyramine. Beyond that dietary supplements and cold remedies are to be avoided. At the same time it is recommended to select healthy and fresh food, which contents little or no tyramine such as fresh meat, poultry and fish. Pregnancy and Lactation: Azilect shall not be used during pregnancy. If the patient should get pregnant during usage with Sandrena, the treatment has to be stopped immediately. Sandrena is not advisable during lactation period.
